South Carolina is trying to make it illegal for parents to allow a child to operate an adult-sized ATV.

According to the WISTV.com, a South Carolina House Agricultural Subcommittee is trying to beef up legislation to make stricter laws regarding children operating ATVs.

“The new bill makes it illegal for a parent or legal guardian to let a child operate a recreational off-highway vehicle that is in violation of the manufacturer warning label,” WISTV.com says in a report. “It also says ATV passengers must wear eye protection, a helmet and seatbelt.”

We assume lawmakers are talking about using seatbelts in a UTV rather than an ATV. But the bottom line is that if you let your young child operate an ATV which a manufacturer recommends for riders 16 years old and older, you will be in violation of the law if the bill is approved.
