Off-road vehicle maker to absorb Yamaha-power kit car
Rhino Outdoor International Inc. (ROI) of Henderson, Nev., has acquired YamaBuggy Sales and Distribution through a share exchange agreement.
YamaBuggy has the exclusive North American distribution rights for the side-by-side off-road buggy, which is powered by a 4-stroke, 400cc Yamaha engine. ROI will immediately begin receiving revenue from sales of the YamaBuggy.
“This is a major step in our strategic plan to develop products and services that appeal to the growing market of outdoor oriented consumers,” says ROI president and CEO Howard Pearl. “The YamaBuggy is a proven product, with a huge potential for growth and the company is operated by very talented, experienced management.”
“We are very pleased to join the ROI Family of Companies,” says YamaBuggy president John Wong. “Like the Rhino Off-Road RTV, the YamaBuggy appeals to a large segment of the outdoor enthusiast market. Combining our marketing efforts and distribution systems with the other companies of ROI makes great business sense.”
A nationwide dealer network sold more than 300 YamaBuggies in 2007. The 2008 model, which fetches US$6,000, has a top speed over 50mph and features a digital instrument panel and hydraulic disc brakes.
The YamaBuggy is sold as a kit car and comes equipped with all required Department of Transportation equipment installed or available as an aftermarket modification. It is street-legal wherever you can register a kit car.
