Honda to Show Off Autonomous ATV Prototype in Action at CES 2019

Honda has been working hard on the autonomous ATV project it debuted at CES 2018. For CES 2019, the Honda Autonomous Work Vehicle will be shown in real-world testing scenarios.

Honda has big plans for CES 2019, which takes place January 8-11, 2019 in Las Vegas. While the off-road world is not normally a big part of the show, Honda is planning to change that by showcasing its Autonomous ATV prototype in real-world testing scenarios.

This vehicle is based on Honda’s ATV chassis and is designed to “bring efficiencies and increased safety to public, commercial, and consumer enterprises, such as construction, agriculture, search and rescue and firefighting.”

According to Honda, this autonomous ATV will feature four-wheel drive, along with “GPS and sensor-based autonomy capable of guiding the unit in almost any environment.”

Honda outfitted the prototype with a rail accessory mount system, along with onboard power plug-ins.

“Since the Autonomous Work Vehicle’s debut at CES 2018 under the name 3E-D18, Honda has worked with partners to beta-test and evaluate use cases in a broad array of work environments, including a large-scale solar operations company in North Carolina, a wildland firefighting division in Colorado, and an agricultural and environmental sciences college in California,” Honda says in a release.

Honda is hoping to collaborate with various partners to develop accessories for the vehicle to expand its potential.
