This is the coverage you need if you screw up
In past articles, we’ve talked about collision and comprehensive coverage for ATV insurance. Now, we’re going to take a closer look at Bodily Injury and Property Damage coverage. This coverage protects you after an accident that is your fault and as a result, there is injury to another person or their property.
Bodily injury and property damage liability is important to have when driving an ATV and are considered fairly basic forms of coverage. It will come in handy when someone is hurt or when damage has been done to other people’s property as a result of your actions. If you don’t have it, you can be sued and lose everything that you own – that includes your home and other assets (like your ATV!). Many U.S. states and Canadian provinces have established minimum levels of coverage for both bodily injury and property damage insurance. In fact, in some areas, you can’t register your ATV until you can show proof of insurance. And if you’re riding your ATV on public roads without insurance, you could be arrested or have your ATV taken away from you.
Know Your Coverage Limits
When choose your bodily injury and property damage coverage, different insurance company set different limits. For example, one company may offer bodily injury and property damage liability limits of 15/30/10. This would mean that:
No more than $15,000 would be paid per person for Bodily Injury No more than $30,000 would be paid per accident for Bodily Injury No more than $10,000 would be paid per accident for Property Damage We know you love your all-terrain vehicle, or ATV, whether you’re a rancher, hunter, or trail rider, and you love the possessions you’ve accumulated that have nothing to do with your ATV. That’s why it’s so important to have bodily injury and property damage liability to protect you from those unexpected accidents. Be sure to talk to your powersport broker to see that you’re adequately covered.
