Polaris Recalls 2016-17 RZRs and Generals Due to Burn and Fire Hazards

Polaris has issued a recall notice for model year 2016-17 RZR 900, RZR 1000, RZR Turbo and General 1000 models due to burn and fire hazards.

This is what Polaris says in the recall notice: “The vehicle engine can misfire and the temperatures of the exhaust and nearby components can get too hot and cause the components to melt, and/or a contaminated brake master cylinder may cause unintended brake drag, posing burn and fire hazards.”

According to the recall notice, Polaris has received a total of 15 reports of vehicles catching fire – 14 related to the brake master cylinder and one related to an engine misfire. Two reports of melting vehicle components related to an engine misfire have also been reported.

Approximately 13,500 units are affected by the recall. The RZR models have previously been recalled, but this is the first recall notice for the General 1000.

Consumers are asked to immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact Polaris for a free repair.
