Yokley Racing ATV Report: Loretta Lynn’s GNCC

National Guard Coastal Yokley Racing Team rider Jarrod McClure finished fifth overall and fifth in the XC1 Pro class at the GNCC finale at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. There were 120 total entries including 13 XC1 Pro racers.

Summary

This GNCC was a make-up race because the spring race was postponed due to flooding. The weather was perfect, nice and cool with sunny skies. The track was very rough since the motorcycle pros ran the course the day before. There were the typical rocks and whooped out sections, with parts of the famous Loretta Lynn’s National Motocross course utilized as well. The course crossed a fairly deep creek twice each lap.

The flag dropped and McClure battled with nine-time champ Bill Ballance for the holeshot. He ran with the top four throughout lap 1. The creek crossings were deep, and at times the water was higher than the wheels and exhaust system. You had to be careful not to drown out the engine.

McClure ran in fifth position on laps 2 through 5, and did not have any problems. He did say that the track was the most physically demanding of any on the GNCC circuit. He finished the race in fifth, and in doing so he climbed up the season point standing to sixth in the XC1 Pro division.

McClure next heads to California to race the last WORCS event this next weekend. The actual race is in Surprise, Ariz. and will be his final pro race of the 2011 season.
