Five Ways to Improve the Utility of Your Polaris Ranger

Get even more out of your Ranger with the right accessories
The Polaris Ranger is arguably the most popular UTV sold today, thanks in no small part to the versatility of the machines. They make excellent work units for around the farm and jobsite, are outstanding for use in hunting situations, and are plenty of fun to trail ride with.
Still, when it comes to getting the job done, there are areas you can improve the Ranger on. Here are five easy things you can add to your Ranger to improve the utility while keeping it a great recreational choice too.
Winch
It kind of goes without saying that adding a winch to your Ranger is a good idea. Having a winch just makes difficult jobs easier. Whether you’re pulling a log out of the woods, getting something unstuck, or loading something heavy onto a trailer, a winch can make that task a breeze. For a Ranger, get at least a 4,500 lb winch. Polaris even sells a 6,000 lb model. If you can, get a remote control for your winch, too. This lets you stay outside of the vehicle while winching.
Cargo Rack
Adding a cargo rack gives you additional space to haul gear, tools and other assorted stuff in the cargo bed of your Ranger. It makes a great space to haul a chainsaw and gas can if you’ve got to go trim fallen trees in the pasture, or to gather firewood for camp. It’s also a great space for a cooler if you’re working all day in the hot sun.
Tow Hitch
Your Ranger comes with a 2-inch receiver and the machine can tow quite a bit. Get a hitch that can handle all of your trailers. This will keep the Ranger versatile and that way you don’t have to go searching for the right size ball if one trailer is a 2-inch and the other is an 1-7/8 inch.
Gas Can Rack
If you don’t want to have a cargo rack in the back because you sometimes haul tall things like hay bales or large barrels, but still need to have some extra gas with you, a gas can rack is just the ticket. Other specialty racks are available to carry everything from chainsaws, to hand tools. The last thing you need is to end up needing to waste time going back to the barn to get the tool you forgot. Might as well haul everything you need to get the job done right, the first time.
Tracks
Ever have a job that needs to get done and you’re all ready to go do that job, only to get stuck in snow or mud? It can be frustrating and time consuming to no end. Tracks, while not cheap, will ensure that you get there. Whether you’re plowing through snowy fields, slick rocks or slimy mud, a set of tracks will let you power through. Plus you kind of feel like you’re driving a tank, so that’s pretty neat too. Check out some Polaris Ranger track options here.
