Kawasaki doubles warranty

Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA of Irvine, Calif. is giving buyers of its new ATVs some added protection.

The company has increased the basic limited warranty from six months to 12 months on all 2008 ATVs as well as all 2007 and prior year new ATVs purchased after Nov. 1, 2007.

“We did this basically to show our confidence in our vehicles and it added value to the customer, which helps us sell more units,” Kawasaki media relations director Justin Dawes told ATV.com.

Registered owners of 2008 ATVs will receive a letter from Kawasaki advising them about the extended basic warranty. Kawasaki will also send updated product registration cards and warranty certificates.

Kawasaki is also allowing its customers to purchase a Good Times Protection Plan for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months beyond the basic warranty. The plan can be purchased any time before the basic warranty expires. The plan includes unlimited mileage protection, has no deductible and is transferable to a new owner at no cost. Some used vehicles can also be covered by the plan.

“All covered repairs are paid in full by Kawasaki directly, relieving owners of the claim filing and reimbursement hassles,” the company says. “Also, covered repairs can be performed at any authorized Kawasaki dealership in the United States.”
